Cost for the 2008/2009 Whitetail deer hunts

  • To make a reservation we need at least 3 hunters, but not more than 6 hunters at one time.

  •  Unfortunately our cost have almost doubled in the last two hunting seasons. And as a direct result we must realign our charges to our hunters to stay in business. For example, the cost of corn has gone up from $3.50 per 50 pound bag to almost $10 per bag. The fuel, taxes, electricity, employees, etc has done about the same. Especially the fuel charges affect us here at the ranch just like they do everyone else.

  • AS a result, it is with great regret that we must raise the prices to levels that I am not proud of. The cost for White tail deer hunting for the fall Season of 2008 is $830 per day per person or a total of $ 2490 for a minimum of three days and four nights. This includes kill fees for two doe, and two Rio Grande turkeys. Of course, this amount includes all foods, on site super bunk house with no more than two to each room.

  • Our buck kill charges are based on size. Spikes are no charge, eight points are $780, ten points are $1200, twelve points are $1800. We try not to shoot any deer less than a mature 8 point buck.

  •    Additional days are $550 per person per day. And, believe it or not we have about half of our hunters staying over for four and five nights. Some folks like to explore the ranch and find some of the Indian arrow heads on the creeks or maybe go to the village (Abilene and Buffalo Gap) for some very fine eating.

  •  We have a semi guide assist program. Each hunter is given a complete tour of the ranch, a good aerial photo, GPS coordinates of gates, blinds, feeders, food plots, water, etc. If asked, we make suggestions as to where the latest sightings of deer and turkeys have been reported.

  •  I know that most people know it, but, we only use shot guns here for turkeys and usually rifles for deer hunts. However, we do have some hunters that insist on using a shot gun for deer. But, I will tell you that you have to be pretty close to successfully down a big buck with a shotgun.

  •  I furnish all of the food and, cook a daily supper time meal. I usually cook steak, chicken, ribs, roast, brisket, seafood or what ever that you might want on the outside wood grill and smoker.

  • We always keep snacks like baked turkey, fried chicken or fried turkey, cheese, ham, hamburgers, etc. available all of the time plus mucho fruit and sweets, eggs, egg beaters, and bacon and sausage. We are now doing special meals such as low cal, low sugar, special meats, and or what ever.

  • If you want specific foods please let us know before you get here and I will have it in stock. I have found that most hunters that tell me that 'I eat anything' ain't really so. It means anything that my wife cooks for me... It is just as easy to cook what you really like, including special diets, and some even low fat diets are available, but you must let us know before you arrive.

  • - When You get up in the mornings, We have a full continental breakfast available for you and this includes grits. If you want a full breakfast you can either fix it yourself or wait until brunch time and the cook will fix it for you. Most hunters like to take a snack lunch  to the field with them.  We have all kinds of foods available for lunches such as sweet rolls, fruit, turkey, ham, eggs, fried chicken, pickled eggs, ribs, barb-b-q, etc. etc.  plus  coffee, tea, hot chocolate bottled water, deep well water, and soft drinks.
  • There is no charge for varmint hunting like fox, coon, bobcats, skunks, and coyotes. Wild pigs hunting is available at $100 per pig. These pigs, about 200 lbs or so, make for excellent eating; thus we don't just shoot and leave the pig on the ground. We do have some very large hogs, some more than 450 lbs. These hogs are good for mounting, but, no good to eat.

  • We do not attempt to clean the hogs here, but we take all hog kills to a meat processor near by. They do a pretty good job, but the processing usually cost about $100 when it is all said and done. But, the sausage is excellent. The meat is so lean that we usually have to add some fat to the sausage. The wild pigs, for the most part, only eat roots so the meat is really good.
