Wild hogs Hunts only, hunting on the ranch is new this year

  •  Our wild hog hunting, in the past, had been only done when connected with either deer hunts or turkey hunts. This year we are now offering ' Wild Hog Hunts for hogs only' since we had many hunters that were only interested in hog hunts and not interested in Deer or Turkey hunts.

  • We have lots of hogs now. Many more than in previous years. We are now seeing them in groups of 4 to 16 hogs at a time. We have all kinds of the porkers, including the Big Black Long Nose type, Lots of the black and white spotted pigs, and now we even have a few of the Mexican javalina hogs. The javalina hogs are not nearly as large as the feral hogs, but they are more difficult to find and hard to track down to shoot. Also, they have the sharp tusk and will attack if cornered.

  • Nearly all of the hogs are excellent eating. You can either cut them up for sausage and pork ribs or the little ones are great to cook over a fire turning them as they cook. Some of the larger ones have a pretty good ham hock butt. However, these wild hogs are very lean. We usually add some kind of fat to a sausage or they will be too dry. About all the hogs eat are roots and they dig up every thing in the pasture.

  • There is no season on the hogs and the limit is based on the amount you want to spend. Our hog hunting prices are based on two different ways of reservations.

  • The cost per hog hunt is as follows:

Staying at the ranch with food and shelter furnished

  •  $300 per day per person if you stay at the ranch plus $50 for a little pig, $75 for a middle sized pig (125 lbs or more). and $125 for a large pig (250 lbs up to 400 lbs)$25 for a pig more than 400 lbs

  • This amount includes staying in the ranch's bunk house with all food and linens furnished. We do not have a guide service for hog hunting, but I will take you out to where ever you might like to go. I do not guarantee your shoot a hog, but there are many of them here and sometimes you have to hunt them down. (No Dogs)

Hunting Only - Not staying on the ranch

  •  $150 per day person. You furnish everything with no charge for the hogs. But, if you are a camper or like to sleep out in the country, you can camp out in the open or use one of your tents or a camper ( as long as I don't have to take care of you) This is at no charge. Wood for your cooking or camp fire is available, again at no charge.

  • We need a minimum of 3 hunters for either plan and there is no discount for children or non hunters. We do not leave the dead hogs in the field. If you don't want them we give the meat to charity and there is a $85 fee to process the meat. Actually, the real cost is $100, but I pay the difference as a donation. Meat is just too precious to just leave it to rot.

  • Since this is my first year to offer this service, there may be things that I have forgotten, so I am open to ideas to make hog hunting fun here the ranch. Let me know what you think.
